The Philadelphia Major Crimes Auto Squad will hold a free VINetching event at the 26th District’s National Night Out.
VINetching is the process by which a car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) is “tattooed” onto all of the windows. This deters thieves from stealing the car because if they were to try to resell it, they’d have to replace all of the glass on the vehicle. The process takes about 15 minutes.
The National Night Out event will also include crime prevention information, bike registration, “moon bounce,” other activities for children and families, entertainment, food, and drinks.

- Free and Open to the Public
